In this article, we will be taking a closer look at this new set and some of its neat features!
Piranha Plant 71426
The set includes 540 pieces and costs $59.99 at Lego.com. As the name implies, the set is a literal model of the piranha plant enemy from Super Mario Bros—measuring 9 in. / 23 cm tall.
The set is 100% poseable, meaning that its head, mouth, leaves, and stalk can all be moved in different ways to create unique poses with the piranha plant. See some examples of posing in the pictures below!
Personally, I think the plant looks really life-like and poses in ways that make it feel as if its breathing and it could lunge out at you in any given moment.
The plant is designed to look as if the monster plant is coming out of a classic green Super Mario pipe—making it way cool for display. Looking closely, we can find two Mario coins inside the set. They don’t seem to have a purpose other than to be seemingly hid within the pipe.
Something to note about this set is that it includes zero play functions with the Mario interactive figure. So, unlike the Super Mario 64 Question Mark Block, Nintendo Entertainment System
, and The Mighty Bowser
adult Mario sets—the Interactive Mario Figure
does not play music or sounds when paired with this set.
The set is perfect as a decoration for people of any age that love Mario, whether it be from their 1980’s Nintendo memories or from the modern Super Mario Bros. videogames—I think that this set makes a perfect addition to any shelf. And though directly targeted for adults, I think this set would look great in any kid’s room.
