This Year’s Lego Zodiac GWP Set is Awesome and Now Available!

Happy Year of the Dragon! Starting January 20th, 2024, Lego started double points! You can read all about these extra points in our other article here: How to Sign up for an Insiders Account. But, that’s not all that came out! It’s already that time of the year again—Lego is now also offering their annual Zodiac animal Gift-with-Purchase (GWP) set! This one is designed for the Year of the Dragon and can be earned as a prize for shopping at official Lego stores and at LEGO.com! Read below to see all about the set, how to get it, and how much you need to spend!

Lego’s Annual Chinese Zodiac GWP’s

As you can see looking at the picture, this is the 10th set as part of Lego’s yearly Chinese Zodiac Sign GWP’s. In the past ten years, Lego has released an animal set every January, as a GWP, that corresponds to the current Chinese Zodiac year. In the past previous years, Lego has made a goat, monkey, rooster, dog, pig, rat, ox, tiger, and rabbit as Zodiac Sign gifts. And this one will, as you can see, feature a dragon!

Take a look below to see three of these past sets—please note, though, that these are no longer available.

With ten done, this leaves a snake for next year and a horse for the following year before Lego finally finishes a complete circle–that is unless they remake the goat—since it was slightly different, stylistically, than the rest of them.

Personally, my favorite is the Tiger—I still own that model from when I acquired it a few years ago–and I still keep it on my desk. I’m also hoping to pick this dragon up too, because I love how it looks—it is definitely one of the best designs they’ve had for these Chinese Zodiac Lego gifts.

New Year of the Dragon: 40611

The set is called New Year of the Dragon: 40611. The dragon looks really well-made, vibrantly-colored, and cute. I especially love how Lego’s gold saxophone pieces are incorporated in this model in order to give the dragon neat little horns! It appears that its mouth can be opened, the tail can be moved, and like the other Zodiac sets, it will be easily removable from the brick-built stand connected to the dragon’s feet.

The entire thing is built from only 214 pieces. Like its predecessors, this set also includes a to/from tag for gifting.

How to Claim the New Gift

Along with the 2x Insiders Points, this promotion will begin on January 20th. Unlike the double points, though, this gift-with-purchase will run much longer—all the way until January 31st! All you have to do in order to claim this dragon is to head over to LEGO.com and spend $85 or more! Simply add the sets you want to purchase to your cart, and once you pass the dollar threshold, this dragon gift will be automatically added to your cart.

If you do plan on receiving this set, I would personally advise doing it before the 24th of January ends. Why? Well, if you do—then you will also earn double Lego Insiders points!

Well, what do you think about this GWP!? In my opinion, this Zodiac annual gift is one of the ones I’m excited for every year—and the fact that this one is a Chinese dragon makes it all the so much more exciting. Let me know in the comments what you think and which animal so far has been your favorite!

If you are a fan of Chinese dragons, you can also purchase the Auspicious Dragon set that is currently available! This set meets the threshold, so buying it will net you both dragons! Buy it here! See a picture of it below.

Also, don’t forget to subscribe! Doing so will allow you to receive future updates and news for Lego’s ongoing promotions, deals, and sales. We also host frequent give-aways and subscribing will keep you posted on those! Thanks for reading!
