Great news! The long-awaited Dungeons and Dragons set finally has a release date and images. Its original reveal came out a year or so ago as a winning Lego Ideas set. Read below to see the images, which shows the set a bit differently than the original Ideas build did.
Dungeons and Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale 21348
The new upcoming Dungeons and Dragons set, Dungeons and Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale (21348), releases very soon, actually, on April 4th, 2024! And even better news – if you have a Lego Insider’s account, you will be able to order this set at LEGO.com early on April 1st. If you don’t know how to sign up for an Insiders account or want more information, check out our article here: How to Sign up for a Lego Insiders Account.
The set will have 3,745 pieces and will retail for $359.99. As with many releases this big, there will likely be a Gift-with-Purchase available during this sets release as well. Stay subscribed to see when these gifts come out!
The entire set features a model tavern with removable parts, allowing for easy access and viewing to the interior. Below this is a dungeon, and above the tavern is a tall tower. There are a tons and tons of easter eggs and small little details that you will only ever see if you build this set yourself.
The complete build, including the tower and dungeon measures 14.5 in. / 37 cm long, 12 in. / 30 cm wide, and over 19 in. / 48 cm tall!
According to the Lego site, the set includes 5 minifigures. Though I am pretty sure I see 6 in the picture above—so I’m very sure this may just be a temporary typo. The minifigures pictured appear to be of different D&D races and classes, with unique weapons. Five of these figures have alternate heads, allowing you to slightly customize your adventurers. The set also includes a removable, poseable, red dragon (named Cinderhowl) with fabric wings, some skeletons, and other popular D&D creatures, such as an owlbear, a displacer beast, and a gelatinous cube.
Celebrate Easter with exciting LEGO® sets!
More about this Set
Something interesting to note: Since this set was created collaboratively with the company behind Dungeons and Dragons, this set comes with a custom campaign written by Wizards of the Coast. This set is the first to ever take place in D&D’s Forgotten Realms—but there is supposedly a minifigure series based on Dungeons and Dragons to come out soon. We will keep you updated when pictures and/or a release date for these D&D figures are released. Be sure to subscribe using the email box at the bottom of this page so that you can receive news once these figures are revealed!
This D&D set is based on a Lego Ideas entry. You can see it below. As pictured, you can see that the dragon’s color was changed, along with many other slight differences made. Honestly, I like that the way the dragon was changed, actually—I’m not sure if everyone will agree with me on that, though. I especially love the addition of fabric-wings—we haven’t seen those in a Lego set for a while!
See below: Original Ideas design on the left – New official design on the right.
I honestly think the set is the best and coolest of 2024 so far—what do you think? I love the feel and color scheme of the entire set—and I think the inclusion of so many hidden details are really cool. As usual, my only wish would be for the inclusion of more minifigures—but, at least, we’ll be receiving more D&D minifigures in the future!
Those are just my thoughts about the set, though. What are your thoughts?! Let me know in the comments below! Feel free to ask any questions and express any of your opinions! I would love to hear them! Also—thanks for reading!
