Exciting New Mario Lego Sets – December 2023

Coming in December, it looks like we will be receiving two new Lego Mario sets! Both sets are very small and inexpensive, but still feature some interesting characters and builds. Read below to find out more about these two new, upcoming Lego Mario sets!

Super Mario 64™ Question Mark Block is now available! Shop now at LEGO.com.

Penguin Family Snow Adventure Expansion Set 71430

The first set coming out is a 228-piece set and will be priced at $29.99. This one is neat, seemingly based on Super Mario 64’s Penguins. The set features an ice slide that can convert into a skating rink, a small ice cavern, some fish, a sled, and a snowy tree.

Three figures are included—a Goomba (with a winter hat!) a baby penguin, and a large penguin. Two scan tiles for Mario to interact are included with each penguin figure.

The addition of the large penguin is likely my favorite part of this set. I’d normally be excited for the small penguin as well, but we’ve already been able to buy baby penguins from the Super Mario Minifigure Series 4 sets and in the Fliprus Snow Adventure Expansion Set set.

This is a perfect set for any Mario fan or Lego lover—and definitely a set worth grabbing—due to its inexpensive price and fun inclusions.

This set will release on December 1st.

Nabbit at Toad’s Shop Expansion Set 71429

This set is almost exactly the same size, featuring 230 pieces and a price of $29.99. The set features a fun little Toad store and two figures—Yellow Toad and Nabbit.

Oddly enough, just like the baby penguin, we were given a Nabbit figure in a Mario Figure Series—Series 5 yet they are re-rereleasing him into this set. This isn’t something Lego typically does with Series minifigures (But maybe Mario ones are allowed to break the rule). I assume maybe Lego does this since the Mario sets are often targeted towards a younger audience—and this gives kids more opportunities to grab up their favorite characters they missed in the past. Plus, Nabbit is also featured in the new Super Mario Bros. Wonder videogame—and Lego probably wants to make new sells based on the popularity of the new game.

In Toad’s store we can see all sorts of products and little trinkets, such as a tiny train, a toy airplane, a pizza, and other foods. Scan tiles are included in the set, allowing interaction with the Lego Mario, Luigi, and Peach electronic figures. You can see those using the links below:
