LEGO Avengers Quinjet: REVIEW

Welcome Avengers and Lego fans! Today, I will be reviewing the LEGO set 76248: The Avengers Quinjet. This set is currently available for $99.99 here. In this review, I will be looking the set, its minifigures, and at what I liked about the set and what I disliked. I will also be comparing its minifigures to Lego’s older versions of these same minifigures.

What’s in the box?

Inside is an instruction manual, two sticker sheets, 795 pieces, and 5 minifigures.

So, the thing about this set that makes it really unique is the fact, you aren’t supposed to use all of the stickers. Apparently, you are supposed to only use one sheet for the whole ship—this gives you the option of turning it into the Avengers Quinjet, like I did, or the Shield Quinjet. Even though only half of the stickers are used, there are still quite a few of them and was beginning to become sticker fatigued by the end of the build.

The set comes with a stand. Placing the ship facing different directions on the stand will make the ship fly at a slightly different angle, which is neat. I’m not sure if you’re supposed to put the ship in other directions, but it works well. I do like this Avengers Quinjet better than ones Lego has made in the past.

Many of the ship parts are moveable, including the head, the wing-tips, the tail-wings, the landing gear, and other pieces beneath the ship. The middle of the ship opens so you can view the inside and the back door opens (where the Avengers would exit).

My only complaints for this build would be its fragility. Even during the building process, it seemed like it would break easily, a problem I don’t typically see with Lego sets. The finished model is a little sturdier, but some of the pieces can pop off easily if you grab it wrong.

My personal favorite part of this set is its minifigures. Sure, we already have all of these minifigures who have showed up in many sets before, but Lego put some extra time into these designs to make them perfect.

The included minifigures are Thor, Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow, and Loki. All five include a dual sided head, with Loki bearing his prisoner mask.

Thor is probably the least impressive of the five new figures, as he looks similar to some of his recent iterations, including his minifigure from the Endgame Battle set (minus the hair difference). He is, however, a definite improvement from his original look. He comes with his hammer and a lightning bolt.

I wasn’t expecting to be amazed by the Iron Man minifigure, as Lego makes so many of him and all of them look the same. But I was amazed. They put a lot of extra detail and shading into his suit—enough that any Lego veteran will notice a huge difference. His mask also clicks shut, unlike his original figure. I didn’t expect to say this (as I already have so many Iron Man minifigures) but this is probably the best-looking one I own. The only thing I wish they would have added to make him perfect would have been to give him printed arms. Iron Man includes a separate hair piece and another piece that connects him to the ship, so he can fly alongside it.

Captain America looks great too. He is very detailed and the metal parts on his suit shine. He looks really good compared to past Captain America minifigures as well. I wish they would have given him printed legs though. The only Captain America minifigures that exist with printed legs are Zombie Captain America and a Comic-Con Exclusive minifigure. This would have been a great opportunity for Lego to finally give Cap some detailed pants and boots, but unfortunately, we may have to wait a bit longer.

Black Widow looks really good, but she is also missing much-needed leg printing. Her arms are printed though, which is cool. Overall, she doesn’t look a whole lot different than past Black Widow minifigures, but she matches the rest of the avengers in this set with her detailed torso.

My favorite minifigure in this set is actually Loki. We don’t currently have a lot of minifigure versions of Loki, and this minifigure is a huge improvement from the past. Since we haven’t seen a Loki in his gray-green war costume since 2016 , this is the first time we see this version with a soft, spongy cape. There is one Loki minifigure with a soft cape that came in the 76152 Juniors Avengers set, but he wears all green and doesn’t look as good as this one. I love that he comes with hair and I love they actually gave him a real face for the first time. In most previous versions, Loki has been stuck with a generic cheek-bone face that’s been used for tons of generic minifigures. His colors look better as well. This is definitely the best Loki minifigure I’ve ever seen.

See the minifigures compared to their previous versions below!

My Thoughts?

I really didn’t expect to like the set as much as I did. This Lego Avengers Quinjet set is great and it even provides some of the best Avengers minifigures to date. The only thing that is missing is a big-fig Hulk, but we haven’t seen one of those in a set since 2020. I think the set is great for collectors and Avengers fans. I think kids would love this too, as it’s very fun and moveable.
