It’s on like Donkey Kong! Yes, our favorite videogame character is back—but in the form of Lego—coming soon in August!
As a part of the Lego Mario theme and being able to interact with Lego Mario Figures, these newest Donkey Kong sets will feature bigger-than-minifigure-characters built from bricks and scan tile pieces that allow Lego Mario, Luigi, or Peach to interact and make sounds.
The Lego Donkey Kong sets all together will bring many characters from the Donkey Kong franchise to life, including; Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Cranky Kong, Dixie Kong, Funky Kong, Rambi the Rhino, and Squawks the Parrot—all of which look really good and well-built.
So far four sets will be released based on Donkey Kong and I will discuss them below.
Donkey Kong’s Treehouse: If you are a fan of Donkey Kong, then this set is a must-have as it is the only set that includes Donkey Kong himself. The set shows off DK’s house, a hammock, and another figure of Cranky Kong. The Donkey Kong figure will interact with the Mario Figure by allowing Mario to ride on DK’s back! My favorite part is the fact they include a bouncy tire like the ones that appear in the original Donkey Kong Country videogame.
Donkey Kong’s Tree House Expansion Set will be released on August 1 for $59.99
Diddy Kong’s Minecart Ride: This set includes Diddy Kong and Funky Kong (plus his airplane) and a couple of enemy creatures, including a Snaggles Shark and a Mole Miner. The set itself is really cool and is built to look like a minecart system.

Dixie Kong’s Jungle Jam: This is a smaller set and includes Dixie Kong and Squawks the parrot. The build is a stage and includes a microphone and guitar. I’ve really liked the details included in these sets, like the bananas in the trees of this set. This set will be found for only $26.99 on Lego.com starting August 1.

Rambi the Rhino: This is the smallest set, but succeeds to delight any Donkey Kong fan. It includes Rambi the Rhino as a figure that can interact with the Lego Mario Figure. Other than the Rhino, the set also includes some rocks and a banana.
