Coming on September 7th will be a new Lego set based on one of the recent Lego Ideas Winners. If you are a Lego VIP member, you will have early access to this set starting September 4th! To become a VIP, go here, click the Lego head in the top right corner, and register!
This new set, The Insect Collection, will have 1,111 pieces that create three different insects: Hercules Beetle, Blue Morpho Butterfly, and the Chinese Mantis. The set will be priced at $79.99 and can be found on Lego.com as soon as it releases.
Each insect will include a detachable stand made from pieces that hold the bugs up for display.
FINAL PRODUCT VS ORIGINAL FAN MODEL
The set seems pretty different than the original Lego Ideas model that won—two of the insects are even absent from the build. With the wasp being my favorite model from the original build, I wish it would have stayed for the final product—though it seems to be replaced with a small honeybee that is a part of the butterfly’s stand. The ladybug is also absent except for a small one-tile piece with ladybug printing that can be found on the mantis’ stand.
