As part of Lego’s yearly Lunar New Years sets—four have been announced so far for January 1st of 2024! These four sets are set to usher in the new year and celebrate the Spring Festival and the Year of the Dragon. Keep reading to see these four sets and everything they include! Auspicious Dragon 80112
First is, in my opinion, the most awesome set of the four. It’s a large 1,171-piece set going to be priced at $89.99. Just look at it—it’s really cool! The set is a model of a Spring Festival dragon complete with a rock pedestal and a nameplate. It’s a colorful set with printed elements, such as eyes and scales, and features a head that can be tilted and a mouth that can be opened.
Though specially designed for the holiday, I think this set would look amazing displayed year-round. It’s definitely one of the coolest display models I’ve seen Lego create.
Family Reunion Celebration 80113
Next up is the biggest of the four sets, Family Reunion Celebration. This set contains 1,823 pieces and will be priced at $129.99. This set is a minifigure-scale building featuring an awesome 13 minifigures! It is a model of a traditional Chinese style restaurant with many details, including a kitchen, a dining room, a reception area, and a bathroom. Some other details include a buildable karaoke machine, a rooftop dining area, a patio heater, a dim sum toy cart, a street food cart, fireworks, and hanging lanterns.
The minifigures include several family members (two parents, two grandparents, and two children), another couple, a tourist, a chef, two waiters, and a special minifigure dressed in a Year of the Dragon costume.
A super cultural gift idea for boys and girls, the set features 13 minifigures, including family members, 2 waiters and a unique, never-before-seen character in a Year of the Dragon costume.
Spring Festival Mickey Mouse 40673
Unlike the first two Lunar New Year sets, this one is very small, utilizing only 120 pieces. This set will be priced at $9.99. Not only part of the Spring Festival Lego sets, this one is also part of the Brickheadz sets and features a new Brickheadz-style Mickey Mouse figure—this time dressed in a tang suit. As you can see, he has a detailed torso, a buildable baseplate, and he carries a lamp and an envelope.
Festive Calendar 40678
This last set is really neat—it has 345 pieces and will be priced at $29.94. The set is what the title suggests—a brick-built calendar—an awesome way to celebrate the Lunar New Year. With the set, kids can mark the holidays by rotating the date to display in month / day format or day / month format, allowing the date to be displayed. It can be built in two different ways, as shown in the pictures below.
The set includes some cool details, such as a dragon head + tail, water pieces, firecrackers, symbols for luck, and two minifigures with accessories.
